Use cover or open space to control distance, attack when the target is inside the effective area, and reposition after each exchange. Watch for threats entering from outside the current view.
Use keyboard movement and mouse aiming on desktop, or the virtual movement and action controls supplied on touch screens.
Move after attacking instead of remaining in one position. Predictable spacing makes it easier for several opponents to converge on the character.
